This is very concerning to the residents of West Nipissing. Isn't there enough cases of cancer and dementia in our towns? Do we have to add more causes for concern? If this soil was safe enough for us it should be safe enough for Serpent River to keep! Please reconsider!

I wonder if Rivard will pay for the lawsuits if or when people get sick. The ones working at the landfill site will be more at risk.

Other questions should be asked and answered regarding all of the West Nipissing Landfill Sites. What is the life span of each of our official landfill sites in West Nipissing? What is the plan for each landfill site moving forward? In that it takes on the average nine years to get an approval for a landfill site, what actions are being completed to ensure we do not lose tract of necessary timelines to be adhered to.

Seems like the old adage "Money Talks - Nobody Walks" applies here for Mr. Rivard. As someone else mentioned, if this material is too toxic for the Serpent River Reserve and all of the dump sites located 200kms East or West of the old plant, you would have to wonder why this decision was made by a few people under the radar, so to speak.

There should be an absolute halt NOW to this contaminated soil being dumped here.

FULL STOP

West Nipissing is setting itself up for major future problem. Who in their right mind on council would accept someone else’s contaminated soil problem of this magnitude?

Is this council ready to contaminate the towns drinking water supply? After all the dump is only a few miles upstream from the water intake for the town. What is wrong with this council? Is there not enough cases of cancer in this community as it is?

Guess it doesn’t take much money to be bought off…. Just sayin

It's not only the water table to be concerned about - there is the impact this will have on some small animals and creatures that make their habitat near and in the dump site as well as human contact not only for people working there , but also the folks bringing waste to be disposed of. Lastly we have the additional impact of 500 truck loads being driven down our roads. A complete study should be considered and the decision should be put on hold until then - it's just common sense.

Good point on the wear that 500 trucks does to our roads.

Having 500 dump trucks using hundreds of litres of diesel to drive the 400km trip is also a huge environmental costs which I would have assumed the Greens would be against.

One thing corrupt politics always holds true is their best defence is to ignore. They’re afraid of social media and transparency. So, the toxic dumping continues.

Are contaminants being dumped at other sites in the area?

Who’s the person that signed this deal and where’s the transparency of action and finance.

The Green Party’s local candidate, defended the decision?

I would hope that the six or seven local members of the Green Party will vote to elect a new candidate.
