You will have a hard time restricting ones right to self sustaining food options in a world he'll bent to use food creation as a tool for control by way of hunger. You will not deprive those of us with ability; nor will you prostitute them for it. We will feed our families free of your control and capitalization of those with self sustaining abilities. Come count them, I'm curious who the first one over my fence the last time will be 😉

Follow better and competent leadership. One that fixes more important issues like the water their citizens are drinking rather than the tax they ain't collecting on the eggs they force you to buy from the systems that line their pockets with in their controls.

Animal welfare is a huge concern for me. It is alarming that council & staff who seem to have zero knowledge or experience in keeping chickens are creating these regulations. They absolutely should have consulted with people who have raised and kept chickens, or with a veterinarian, or at the very least, done some of their own research. There are many books, publications, and on-line resources available which share the latest research on how to keep healthy chickens. Also, I wish they would stop copying other municipalities for bylaw wording and come up with something that works in West Nipissing.

What a joke! Spending this much time on this issue when there are more important things to resolve like the water problem in Verner. And to top it all the chicken issue is not even resolved 😡

What an absolute joke. Uninformed uneducated morons making decisions for the masses. If you can't control the prices at the grocery store you can't control what I grow and eat at home

FOLLOW UP NOTE

I don't recall any elected civil servants making an appointment to get my input or desicion on this matter? To inact a bylaw to enforcement without true investment by those who employ you would indicate a dictatorship rather the democratic system they have you believe.

Try me 😉

There is an old saying from Victorian England that went something like: The masters talk about ideas and the servants talk about people. Now, it seems we have to add: Local politicians (with nothing better to do) talk about chickens. Time and time again it seems that our "leaders" have no capacity for self reflection. In other words they seem to have no idea how stupid they look.

The fact that some councillors have no idea how many eggs a chicken lays, just shows us how much thought they put into this matter.

This is going beyond normal. As a farmer we should be able to grow and raise everything for our family and neighbours. To put limits on chickens by people who have no knowledge about any livestock, is beyond me. Are these limits to laying hes only or broilers too? For the ones in counsel, you can Google what broilers are. Seems like the WEF has infiltrated our counsel too. JMO.
