Your council is way overpaid. Unless they spend a lot more time on municipal business than most councils. All other municipalities are bloated with HR without any justification. Bylaw enforcement shouldn’t be rising because bylaws are only applicable to municipal property and nit enforceable on private land.
Checkout the Ontario Landowners Association. It is amazing what councils and staff thin they know and can do but they can’t.
Wow, I understand wage increases but when neither my wife or I have noticed an improvement to Sturgeon Falls since the last municipal election when a full time By-Law Officer (one) was requested and it was actioned, but now we have two? Other than the mayor’s publicity of her personal use of the by-law officers we haven’t noticed their value. Some Sturgeon Falls property owners keep their yards so nice, then you have the others that have no pride and are not following by-laws. Yards and properties that are poorly maintained. Properties that have buildings that are decrepit and uninhabitable, I.e. West of Canadian Tire, also North of Monique’s chip stand, these buildings are an eye sore! Oh but it is up to residents to put in an on line request to have the By-Law Officers justify the complaint and maybe look into it! What ever happened to preventative maintenance. If the By-Law Officers are driving around they do have a company car, we have seen them driving around, should they not be earning their pay cheque? Just maybe being vigilant to those not maintaining maintaining a property. We’ve noticed properties with two feet of grass growing on their lawn or hedges blocking side walk access? Let’s keep West Nipissing beautiful! If you have a yard looking like a junk yard, I.e car with tires sunk in the lawn right beside the sidewalk on Queen Street just West of Church Street on left hand side“ where the heck are our well paid By-Law Officers asking for a raise?
